materra is committed to giving women access to medical care, training and livelihoods:

Congo: Nursing Education

» Training of midwives and nurses for regional and national health care. Often the nurses and midwives replace the non-existent doctors in the country.

Tanzania: Abolition of genital mutilation and forced marriage

» Materra supports its Tanzanian partner organization NAFGEM in the fight against this cruel tradition. Our goal: Education through school attendance and thus a self-determined life instead of genital mutilation and forced marriage.

Kenia: Slum TV – Empowerment of women

» In Nairobi’s oldest slum, Mathare, women learn to share their problems and successes through the media. Our partner organization Slum TV offers specially tailored training courses that they can then use in radio and film productions.
