Women and children in developing countries are disproportionately at risk from crises, regional conflicts, scarcity of resources and environmental damage. At the same time, the future of these countries lies above all in their hands. materra supports selected regional projects to promote women’s health.

You are welcome to present your own project idea to us, provided that it corresponds to the objective and the framework conditions of materra. With over 25 years of experience in the background, we can advise you on all aspects of project planning and implementation. In the event of a collaboration, materra takes on the role of an administrative platform for the project. This means that materra officially carries out the project, guarantees the non-profit use of funds and enables donation receipts to be issued for the sponsors of the project idea. The materra board checks whether the project is compatible with the charitable project goals of the association, which you can read in the association’s statutes.

Tasks such as project applications to materra, the application for funding e.g. to the BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development), settlements with the local NGO in the project country or the final report to the BMZ are the responsibility of the German applicant, who must be a member of materra for the duration of the project and as the project manager is responsible for the project vis-à-vis the board of directors.

In order to be able to successfully carry out a really sustainable project, the applicant should therefore ideally have experience in project implementation, application and project monitoring in the development context.
